This is a genuine postage stamp commemorating the surrender of Imperial Japan to the Allies in World War II.
Victory over Japan Day or V-J Day,
August 15, 1945,
marks the date which in effect brought WWII to an end
. On September 2, 1945, a formal unconditional surrender ceremony was performed in Tokyo Bay, Japan, aboard the US battleship, the USS Missouri. General Douglas MacArthur presided over the signing of the surrender and delivered a short speech.
This stamp features the Japanese delegation aboard the battleship. The stamp is in mint, never hinged condition and is valid for postage in its issuing country. Of note is the ERROR DATE of this event on the stamp which is printed as November 2, 1945 instead of September 2, 1945.
