MORE INFORMATION
, The following will answer most questions, if you have more please feel free to ask.
OK TO START ON INFORMATION FOR YOU THE BUYER
: There are four basic Artin Car types that I know of. First
the standard ARTIN SLOT RATED AT 6 VOLTS
, Second,
the
DEEGAN ARTIN SLOT RATED AT 6 VOLTS
, BUT HAS MUCH STRONGER MAGNET AND FRONT AND REAR GUIDE PINS, Third,
the ARTIN POWER PASSERS
, THESE CARS ARE MADE FOR AC VOLTAGE NOT DC VOLTAGE WORK BEST ON POWER PASSER TRACKS, Last
the ARTIN DIGITAL CARS
(
BUT I DO NOT SELL DIGITAL CARS AT ALL
)
But with that in mind
, if you place a standard artin car on a Artin Digital track the car will just take off with no control at all.
I get this question alot
, WILL THESE CARS RUN ON OTHER 12 VOLT TRACKS? So I have spent hours to give a good answer, based on real tests, not just a guess.
HERE ARE MY RESULTS
, PLEASE READ: TEST WAS FOR ARTIN 6 VOLT AND ARTIN POWER PASSERS
(A NOTE)
This does not mean that Standard Artin cars rated at 6 volts, are not made for 6 volt tracks, becasue they are.
(NOTE) ANY voltage above 8volts will blow the headlight, it will happen.
But I do sell variable LED replacements that work fantastic for any slot car.
Now on my track I use DUAL TRANSFORMERS, that gives me a total of 14 amps or 7 amps per car, with a max of 19 volts. So I adjusted my set to 13 volts using a meter to verify the voltage.
FIRST TEST:
I removed the body of the car, then placed on my artin track, Lifted rear wheels and ran full speed at 13 volts.
RESULTS:
Headlights blew right away,
But I do sell variable LED replacements that work fantastic for any slot car. The motor did start to get warm (but not
hot at all) at 4 minutes. But if you think about that 4 minutes at full blast, is not real, even with Deegan cars. We all would add some dents to our walls.
SECOND TEST:
I put the same car body back on and ran it on my 60ft track. I ran it as hard as I could, in corners and straights opened it up, I ran this car for 30 laps.
RESULTS:
I will never go back, loved the extra power, the hole shots,
fish tailing and the huge increase in speed when floored. (NOTE) I know some will say, they wont do this or that, they will fry in no time. I am convinced that those who try this, will enjoy racing artin standard cars more than they ever have.
BOTTOM LINE:
These cars will run on 12 volt tracks with no problem at all, there will be those that get mad because you just blew away their 15-30 dollar car. When we all race even with a 12 volt system, no car is getting 12 volts all the time, with the controller as we all know we adjust the power with the trigger. When doing this we adjust the voltage from 0volts to the max, but what I am seeing other than having straits longer than 20 feet you will not be able to keep it full throttle very long. So most of the time, my guess is the artin car is getting between 4volt to 8 volts on average. My opinion is simple with these tests and the outcomes.
YES YOU CAN RUN THESE CARS ON 12 VOLT TRACKS.
Are they made for it, NOPE not at all.
POWER PASSERS
Cars. I pushed
big time, Ran perfectly clean for 4 solid minutes at 13 volts, did not overheat had no problems at all good power just as good as any other brand, I have tested, I thought I would have to remove the diode but it was not problem at all. Used the same guide pin that the car comes with and no problems to report. (something to note) there is a A car and a B car in power passers, some you will have to open the car and switch the contacts or they will go the wrong way.
(Something W/Carrera Go and SCX tracks I have found in testing)
Carrera Go and SCX
most all that I know of, that have controllers with a turbo boost button. I have tested both, the track itself is good, the cars in fact most any 1/43 car would run on them. (The Problem) The controllers will not support the power (voltage) that Artin cars need to run right. The cars will move but slowly, but won’t have enough to run well, until turbo button is pushed. When that happens all the voltage from the transformer is pushed into the car, it takes off like a rocket with no control. Also I also know that persons that have raced the Artin cars on their Carrera Go and SCX tracks without changing the controllers have noticed the controllers getting hot. In the end if the controllers are replaced, then and only then can the artin cars run properly. These tests are not a guess, I have tested this on both. (NOTE) Artin Controllers hold up a good long time. In my opinion it is pretty lame that both Carrera Go, and SCX does not allow the racer to have full control of the car on the track, my guess is most racer’s that own these tracks may not know these facts. I suppose it’s a good way for those companies to know you can only buy their brand of cars for their tracks. So you can buy more of Carrera & SCX cars, or spend a few bucks on different controllers. Many times you can find them for the cost of less what you would pay for one or two of their cars. Cost shop theirs with the Artin cars, your finding will say a lot. I have also heard some have stepped up to 1/32 track because of not knowing some of these truths. There are many Great Analog Controllers made today, pretty simple, use Artin controllers, and or any 1/43, 1/32 or 1/24 controller that does not have a turbo button. Digital controllers are not the same by a long shot. Artin does have some digital cars with wireless remotes controls,
(NOTE)
But trying to find those Artin Digital Replacement cars is nuts if you can find them at all. If your track is a Digital track and you want to convert it. Ask the questions, I might ask for a picture of this and that, but we together will come up with a plan.
(AND TO END THESE FINDINGS)
This is not to bad mouth Carrera or SCX, just stating the facts. Their set ups with their cars are and controllers are fine, but would have been good to mix it up with other brands.
WARRANTY’S
and Just Good Information to have, I know more reading, Sorry about that
As all my sets are made up from bulk stock, Artin the company would not give a Warranty on my cars and track, but I do. I know the product I sell. I stand behind what I sell for 90 days from purchase, less broken by force and or misuse or chew toy of your friendly dog or cat lol.
I do not offer returns.
Its fact,
I have buyer’s that just need new tires or a tune up kit, because they have had their ARTIN cars for many years and the tires have dry rotted. I hear back the tires worked great and they are running cars still as old as 8 years plus.
All I ask the new owners if they have a question to please ask. Most of us know there will always be questions your instructions just do not answer. So the questions you send, are very welcomed and answered as quickly as I can get to them. The extremely few problems I have encountered have been handled every time and quickly. Last depending on the kind of track you are buying cars for, its really important to buy the right car for your track, (example) buying a Power Passer for a standard Artin track will not work well. But there is a fix for that. It is not returning the cars and wanting a refund, because you bought the wrong ones by accident.
Ask anyone who have purchased from me know I will do what I can to help a person. Sometimes it’s a simple fix other may take a bit more, just depends, but we will get there. Kind of like having an extra person in your pit crew. If I do not have the answer I will do my best to find it for you.
